Multi-Platinum music star,  Kelis made a career change in 2014 to the shock of many. She opted to move into the culinary world after sharing how her love for cooking inspired her to enlist in a culinary school.

“It was life changing, not because I learned to cook there, but because I was able to focus on something new. I was able to realize that I make music because I love it, not because I have to, and that there are other things that I do just as well, if not better, that bring me as much passion and joy and satisfaction.”

Today, the mother of two has become known for her finger-licking jerk ribs and signature jerk barbecue sauces. As a certified, trained chef from Le Cordon Bleu she has also been able to successfully create her own cookbook, My Life on a Plate: Recipes From Around the World.

“Now that I’ve got these two boys, I want to control a little bit more how we eat. We’re buying a farm, so that’s why we’re moving: so that we can grow everything and sustain everything that way.”

In addition to her life and career change, Kelis has now announced that she will be growing her own whole foods inorder to be in control of the meals she prepares for her family. This also signals a possibe side-hustle in agriculture and is pure motivation for everyone looking to venture into something new or even looking to change course completely.
