How do you get started with your day?

Are you the type to rush right into the day without a plan or do you have your activities already planned out? Very busy CEOs oftentimes hire personal assistants to help schedule their tasks for the day so they can have time to concentrate on other things. Most times, these assistants get to remind them of one meeting or the other; one travel plan or the other and the list goes on and on.

There is only one magic to having a productive day – ORGANIZATION.

American businessman and investor, Mark Cuban, says he starts his day at 6:30 a.m. “The first thing I do when I’m laying in bed still is, I’ll grab a phone and start going through my email,” he says. “Whatever the stressful things are, I try to get those out of the way in the morning.”

Do not put off important tasks till later in the day. Always tackle them in the morning. Once done, you can comfortably strike them off your list as you settle in to carry out the other easier tasks lined up in your schedule for the day.

When done with the most stressful tasks, Cuban spends the rest of his day catching up on the news, dropping his 15-year-old daughter off at school, playing pick-up basketball and dealing with a lot of emails.

This way, he not only has a business but also a life.

With proper planning and organizations, entrepreneurs are truly able to enjoy the flexibility of their time and maintain that work-life balance. You find out that your life doesn’t have to be all about work but you can have time to do other things – read books, travel, spend time with loved ones and still comfortably run a successful business.

Procrastination is indeed the thief of time. Avoid this like a plague because it is never a friend of successful business owners. With procrastination, you find yourself constantly “working” without having time to clearly focus on other fun aspects of life. You would always be tied up doing one work or the other when you could have created that fun time to hang out with friends if you get all your tasks done at the appropriate times.

Maintaining the work-life balance causes you to not only have an organized life but also enjoy all you do.
