It is ok to say “I hate how much I love you” but deciding to fold your hands concerning that situation is an underlying danger. Just as you would keep a bunch of friends but won’t dare to keep a gossip among them is just about the way you should keep all your good qualities like a mother hen but dump ‘mediocrity’ in a trash can.
Mediocrity is the state or quality of being average. It is being an intermediate between two extremes. It might please you to know that mediocrity is not something that comes with a bang, it creeps in like a subtle reptile. It is that sly friend that you will often think you have been able to keep at bay however it lurks somewhere staring right back at you. Many of us deny areas or avoid doing things we’re not good at to maintain an illusion of perfection, but we end up missing out on a lot of things that way.
Average people do what they need to do in order to get by, while wildly successful people seem to have their strategies down to an exact science.
There are few things you do to yourself when you accept this feeling; You slowly lose your confidence, at a point in time you may not be regarded as a reference point and you lose the possibility of improving on yourself.
Here are a few things you should know before letting go of that sly friend;
You need eagle eyes
The eagle is a fascinating bird with an eyesight estimated at 4 to 8 times stronger than that of the average human. An eagle is said to be able to spot a rabbit 3.2 km away. Although it may only weigh 10 pounds-that is about 4.5 kg, its eyes are roughly the same size as those of a human. I am not saying you need to replace your eyes with that of an eagle but you need to have a eye that catches details. For instance, a tailor will sew clothes but a well detailed tailor will spot out the perfect finishing for the very same clothe, paying more attention to the hems, edges or probably even the sleeves.
A well detailed career person picks up insights from the the most ordinary things.
Celine Dion was wrong
When she had raised her voice in that high note singing “That’s the way it is….” Seriously? That’s not the way it is. Ask every role model you have how they came about making their mark, I am so confident they will tell you it was not by folding their arms. Be it in business or in your career, you must be ready to advance yourself in the best possible ways, work on yourself consistently, take a new course and implement your ideas.
Even the elephant ignores
People do not feel comfortable with the way their career or business is going, yet, they don’t feel the need to advance. Sometimes it may not be as a result of them accepting these ideologies rather it could have emanated from naysayers who would often talk them out of set out plans. The elephant has pretty big ears and can choose to ignore if they are not interested in what you have to say ; how much more you?
Opportunities don’t bite
Push past the limitations you set for yourself and keep going. Some people are never able to unlock their full potential because they’re frightened by new opportunity. One success leads to another, and opportunities lead to other opportunities. Never say no to what your skill, potential, technical ability says yes to.
If your next success lies in that opportunity, please take a bold step forward.
Excuses should try the next door
As human beings, we’re wired to think about what could go wrong in a situation. We make excuses to save us from guilt, failure or getting hurt. Where in your life are you lacking or slacking? It’s important to be really honest with yourself and address the areas you need to work on.
Even having a bad boss is not enough to give up on your self-development.
