The 23rd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, Arrivals, Los Angeles, USA – 29 Jan 2017

For every black woman, one major source of pride is the colour of her skin. What is #blackgirlmagic if the melanin doesn’t pop? Kerry Washington has shared her beauty routine with Glamour on how she pulls that classic, confident and beautiful look. The Scandal star affirmed that she is indeed a strong believer of hydration as it helps to keep her skin supple and healthy.

“Drinking a ton of water is vital to health and wellness. It’s so important to have hydration on the inside, but also finding products that can really lock in moisture on the outside. It’s all about working internally and externally toward the same goal.” She shares.

The actress and Neutrogena spokesperson also talked about how he was able to break away from the grip of Eczema. The 41-year-old mother of two has also been candid about her battle with Eczema, a common skin condition that’s symptoms include rashes, small blisters, and thickened plaques of skin, and says that working with a nutritionist and drinking plenty of water has helped her manage her dermatitis.

Her nonnegotiable skin care products for keeping it in check are daily fish oil supplements because omega fatty acids work and a regular use of a skin moisturizer. Shre further confesses “I’m a little bit obsessed with Neutrogena Norwegian Hand Cream. It actually makes my manicure last an extra week. And then hyaluronic acid for my face is everything. I love Neutrogena’s new serum. And there’s a new Hydroboost gel with SPF in it, which is great, especially during spring and summer.”

Kerry who played the role of Olivia Pope in Scandal attests

“Olivia has encouraged me to be more bold with my beauty looks, but so have my kids. Wearing my natural hair on the red carpet has a lot to do with me being a mom now and wanting to reflect that for them. Again, it’s that idea that there’s not just one way to be beautiful and that there are lots of ways to bring out your best self. You don’t have to follow one prescription of what beauty is. I try to always be free and authentic and not leave the house until I’m like, OK, I feel good about this.”

Beauty is pretty much of an inside-out thing. The way you feel about yourself inwardly is a major determinant of how it turns out to radiate physically.
