Nobody is born with limitless confidence. When you see an individual exuding a great deal of confidence, always remember that it takes work to build one’s self-esteem to that level. With the harsh realities of this world, self-confidence is something you must try to build because the challenging world of business, and life in general, can deflate it.

Trust yourself. Create the kind of self that you will be happy to live with all your life. Make the most of yourself by fanning the tinny inner sparks of possibility into flames of achievement. Golda Meir

If you are still finding it difficult building your self-confidence, below are four ways to help you build it.

Authenticity means the ability of one being true to oneself and research has proven that this has a lot to do with self-esteem. The ability to be true means you are genuine and real with yourself which translates to you being happy with your being. When you are authentic, you are true to yourselves, and the people around you begin to trust you more. As they trust you, you become more confident. As you become confident you try more things that will be beneficial to yourself, your family, and community.

Self-efficacy is one’s belief in one’s ability to succeed in every task and challenge and it is this belief that determines whether or not you can rise up after being knocked down. The truth is, it is best to believe in yourself rather than seeking validation from people. The best way to build self-efficacy is by planning ahead of time, watching others because people learn by observing the behaviours of people around them and looking back to reflect on past accomplishments.

Stop Comparing

Comparison is the fastest route to self-destruction. It’s easy to believe that someone else is a better cook, leader, dancer or has a better body than you do. In truth, each of us is a unique blend of traits with individual strengths and weaknesses. Stop comparing yourself to others unfairly. Focus and build on what you have and not what’s “lacking” in you.

This means the ability to stick to or believe in something regardless of what other people think. The fact is not everyone will agree with that plan or unique idea you think you have. You need to have the strength and ability to always hold on and carry on.

Finally, Always continue to do something even though it is difficult or other people are against it.
