Harbour Point event centre just off Ahmadu Bello Way, Victoria Island remained asleep till it was woken up by pomp and pageantry from the 2019 Flourish Africa Conference.  Beautiful and gorgeously dressed ladies stepped into the premises gradually…then in their numbers.

Few minutes to the hour of ten saw these awesome ladies queuing up to confirm invitations and register for the much expected Flourish Africa experience. Guests trooped in and got seated in the ambience of the pink stylishly decorated hall. About 800 women were in attendance to receive the mandate for the #MotionToDisrupt.

The #FlourishAfricaConference2019 kicked off with a welcome address and opening speech from our host and convener, Mrs Folorunso Alakija. She encouraged the ladies to brace themselves to disrupt industries and sectors.

In her words, “For you to be a disruptor, you need to be bold, willing, a visioner and a strategist” and a concluding positive affirmation, “You must Flourish.”

The keynote address was delivered by award-winning Head of Digital Media and Partnerships for Forbes Africa, Founder of Aim Higher AfricaMs. Peace Hyde. The media entrepreneur transforming life lessons on career and business based on her personal journey.

Speakers who also stirred up the #MotionToDisrupt include; Adaora Mbelu – Director of Trellis Group, Blondie Okpuzor – Founder and CEO of BathKandy Co., Temie GiwaTubosun – Founder of LifeBank, Buogo Obi  – CEO of Wooddesignes Furniture. The stage had the pleasure of being managed by the articulated and scintillating, Mc Olivia.

Ladies in attendance were royally treated and guests who had been in attendance shared their experience and how the Flourish Africa community had benefitted them. The event came to an end with satisfactory closing remarks from the host, Mrs Folorunso Alakija and the announcement of small mentoring classes to come up in the nearby future.
