DEAR LIONESS, PLAYING SMALL IS FOR THE FAINTHEARTED
Have you noticed how breath-taking it is to look down on the earth from a high altitude? It is usually a scaring yet beautiful view.
Deciding to play small is also just similar, enjoy the pseudo-beauty that exist in your mind and stay scared in a glass box. Playing small can be attributed to your walk with God, your attitude towards your business or career. Every step you take back into the confines of your comfort zone is a picture of you playing small.
The lioness might just be another feminine animal prowling the jungle but she has titbits to share. Do you know that female lions are nocturnal and are therefore able to hunt at night? They hunt in a team which makes it easier for them to get their prey. They do make attempts to play small.
Without the proper motivation, we’re willing to stay in a situation that doesn’t make us completely happy, for fear that the discomfort we’ll feel by stepping outside of our current circumstances will be greater than the discontent we feel now, however unfulfilled we are.
But by not stepping outside of your comfort zone, you’re costing yourself two of the greatest gifts life has to offer which are: Growth and New attainment. Our deepest fear is often that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.
Proverbs 28:1 reminds us “The wicked flee though no one pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.”
Life has no room for the fainthearted, refuse to play small.
