I love to believe that Monday blues are not sky blue rather, they are a darker shade of blue.

It’s surprising how even after a weekend of rest, you have your mind buzzing like you have a swarm of bees roving around your head. You wake up with tired eyes and dishevelled hair, staring at yourself in the mirror and the only question that escapes your lips is “Hey! Is that you?” with a sense of little or no clarity if the woman staring right back at you is indeed you.

For some people, they experience Sunday blues then move on as the week unfolds while for some, they wake up with a nudge of Monday blues – a feeling of Monday being depressing or trying especially because of the return to work and routine after a weekend.

The thing is the day of the week “Monday” is here to stay. You can only get closer and be the best buddy to it or keep fighting it. You owe “Monday” some gratitude because it allowed you personalise it. The word “Mon” is a French word that means mine. So, it’s your day, your personalised day.

Choose something you can do for 10 minutes to help clear your mind. This could be journaling, meditation, yoga, music, drinking a cup of tea/coffee, saying affirmations, reading, devotions – whatever you like that will start your day on the right foot.
