BE AN ORIGINAL AND NOT A DUPLICATE OF OTHERS
Your script in life is not written the same way as another’s. You have to discover yourself and live your OWN life. Do your own thing and keep it real. You are never the same with someone else and though you may tow the same path, you are two different people and how you choose to operate is going to be different from how the other person operates.
You are never wired same way as another even though you are identical twins. You two are different. You have different likes, dislike and all that. So don’t go thinking because you came from the same egg, you must like the same kind of things.
Stop being another and start being you. You are an original. Why would you rather be counterfeit or fake of someone else?
You think you are not blessed? You think you have nothing special about you? Everybody does. It’s just left for you to figure it out and use it. We each have a unique and special gift about us…… For example, we may all be singers or musicians, but we sing differently.
I guess that is why in music talents hunt shows like MTN Project Fame or Voice Nigeria or Idols, the contenders though may be asked to perform songs written by someone else, the key emphasis is always to make the song their own.
They are encouraged to put their own unique touch and feel to it because that is the only way they can get comfortable in it and perform it well. They don’t have to feel they are wearing the shoes of the original artists….Oh no! They just have to wear their own shoes and bask in the honour of singing a song written by that admired icon or role model.
Same goes for every profession of life. No matter who you admire, you can never be them. You would always be a fake or counterfeit. You may surgically alter your looks to be like them, you may change your voice, walk pattern or way of life to be like them but you will never be them.
Neil Gaiman said, “The one thing that you have that nobody else has is you. Your voice, your mind, your story, your vision. So write and draw and build and play and dance and live as only you can.”
So, I ask…..why spend a great amount of time trying to be someone else (which would never bring you joy or happiness), when you can spend that same time or even less trying to figure out who you really are and what your passions are and go live happily for the rest of your life?
