Not all conversations are effective. That’s why resolution can’t be reached after certain conversations. The same thing applies to prayers. When our communication with God is not effective, getting answers to our requests seems to be unreachable but remember;
Surely the arm of the LORD is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear.
(Isaiah 59:1 New International Version)
A prayer can be one of the most effective and powerful activities we can do to get us out of troubles, heal our sickness and pain, ask for forgiveness, request for guidance and protection, achieve our life’s goals and wishes, or simply give our thanks to the Lord.
However, not all prayers are the same. Not all that we ask or request from God will be given to us. He may hear all our prayers. He may answer all of them. But God doesn’t always give an answer that’s perfectly what we want to hear or see.
There are things we need to consider to ensure our communication with God through prayer is effective;
You do not ask with wrong motives.
“When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.” – James 4:3
You don’t have any doubt.
“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” – Mark 11:24
You pray according to your heart, not with your mouth.
“And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.” – Matthew 6:7
Remember that God doesn’t ignore us. He always listens to us. He always hears our prayers though we are sinners. He always gives us answers. However, His answer may not always be a Yes, it could also be a No.
