11-YEAR-OLD LANDS $11 MILLION DEAL WITH WHOLE FOODS TO SUPPLY LEMONADES
What would you do if you win or land an $11 million deal?
Well, 11-year-old Mikaila Ulmer recently struck a deal worth $11 million with Whole Foods, the world’s leader in natural and organic foods to have her special recipe lemonade sold in all their 55 stores. The unusual thing about her lemonade is the inspiration behind it; after getting bit by bees twice in one week at the age of four, Mikaila became terrified of these little insects until she was given a job to research, read and discover more about them by her mum.
Upon discovering their importance and learning that bees could possibly become extinct in the years to come, Mikaila created a lemonade business and sweetened her lemonade with honey instead of sugar or artificial sweetener, which would be healthier and would save bees, and support beekeepers.
The business which was founded in 2009 is more of an environmental and social enterprise according to her because she donates a portion of profit made, to local and international organisations trying to save honeybees.
Finally, Mikaila who is described as a hard worker by her mother says it takes organization, commitment and energy to run her business.
