NIGERIAN WOMEN ARE THE HIGHEST CONSUMERS OF OUR PRODUCTS – JAPAN
The Japan External Trade Organisation has said that Nigerian women are the highest consumers of the country’s products.
The Trade Commissioner and Managing Director, JETRO, Shigeyo Nishizawa, in an interview with our correspondent, disclosed that the country strategically designed products and tagged this year’s trade exhibition, ‘Made in Japan for women’.
He said the idea was inspired by the country’s experience at the last trade fair and by trading across African nations.
Nishizawa, who described the Japan Pavilion at the 32nd Lagos International Trade Fair as one of the biggest, said that women’s buying power was stronger than that of their male counterparts.
He said, “Most of our customers are women. This year we themed the Made in Japan fair, ‘Made for women’. Ladies gave us good market and they have an eyes for quality. They do not mind paying extra for an item as long as the quality is right. Japanese companies are finding their business opportunities in women’s buying power.
“The ladies are very excited about our Kanekalon hair range and DNM nail printer, which was unveiled to the public for the first time in Nigeria.”
The trade commissioner said that there was a huge difference in the size and number of exhibitors in the Japan pavilion this year.
“This year, the pavilion occupied 2.125 square metres of space and featured 30 exhibitors, unlike last year that the space was 1.750sqm with 23 firms exhibiting,” he said.
