REGINA AGYARE IS LIGHTING BULBS OF TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION IN GHANA
After six years in the banking/technology sector, Regina decided to follow her passion and founded her own social enterprise called Soronko Solutions, which provides unique technology innovations that help make African businesses far more efficient and also creates innovative programs to improve the lives of children. Soronko Solutions also develops affordable technology solutions across different channels, for the web, mobile, point of sale devices, and ATMs.
Regina Agyare is a young, dynamic social entrepreneur who graduated from Ashesi as one of the top software developers in her class. After graduation, Regina was hired by a prestigious international bank in Ghana and became the first and only female in the Information and Technology department.
The company leverages on developing innovative technology solutions across different channels such as Web, Mobile, POS and ATM to help Small and Medium scale Enterprises in Ghana create visibility and grow their businesses using technology.
The team has over 90 volunteers,110 mentors who are either computer scientists or engineers and 3500 mentees in 8 regions in Ghana, while expanding to Burkina Faso with Tuares to start GirlTech. The Soronko curriculum has been translated into French as the changemakers are passionate about bringing coding to girls in Francophone Africa.
