SERENA WILLIAMS PULLS OUT OF ITALIAN OPEN IN ROME
All-time fans favourite and former world number one tennis player, Serena William has pulled out of Italian Open making it her second miss for this month; just 5 days after she pulled out of the WTA event in Madrid, saying she needed more time to prepare for her first Clay season since giving birth to her baby Alexis.
This has left fans worried and questioning her participation in the French Open, the second Grand Slam event for 2018.
Serena Williams posted on her snapchat saying:
“My coach and team always said ‘Only go to tournaments when you are prepared to go all the way. I can compete but I don’t want to just compete, I want to do far better than that and to do so, I will need a little more time,”
Serena Williams who has won the second-most singles titles (23) in women’s Grand Slam tournaments of all time has not played a match on Clay since reaching the final at Roland Garros in 2016.
