MEET 14 YEAR OLD TOMISIN OGUNNUBI: ORDINARY GIRL DOING EXTRA-ORDINARY THINGS
Tomisin Ogunnubi is a fourteen-year-old student of Vivian Fowler Memorial College for Girls who made News in 2016 for developing a mobile tracking app called ‘My Locator’ and she is currently on her way to becoming a world-leading ICT expert.
The App which is able to tell one’s location makes transportation easy by showing directions and time needed in getting to another location. It also comes with a special feature that makes it easy for people in distress to dial the Lagos state emergency number 767.
This creation was done under the supervision of an ICT organisation “New Horizon” which partnered with her school to grow the spirit of technological innovation among teens. ‘My locator‘ is presently on the google play store, has over hundred downloads and has gotten positive reviews so far by its users.
She is presently working on building a site that would enable teenagers to buy and sell goods which would serve as her own way of trying to grow the entrepreneurial spirit amongst teenagers. She enjoys riding bicycles, playing the piano and watching TV.
Tomisin who made merits in 15 subjects describes herself as someone who prefers to listen and understand more in class rather than reading and hopes to correct certain stereotypical Nigerian beliefs in future.
