REVAMP YOUR LINKEDIN PAGE TO ATTRACT YOUR DREAM JOB

LinkedIn is the largest social media network for professionals, it’s massive database is daily utilized by thousands of companies, recruiters and hiring managers to source for candidates and to motivate various individuals in their diverse fields.

According to Jobvite, 94% of recruiters are active on LinkedIn, but only 36% of candidates are. Although, most people have the applications on their phones and tablets very few people implement the application to reap the opportunities it has to offer.

If I told you your dream job is just a visit away from your LinkedIn page, wouldn’t you want to make your LinkedIn page more attractive to a recruiter?

Here are steps on how to go about it:

Leave A Strong Headline

Let your headline reflect who you are and what you are looking for.  Your headline should clearly state your name, your credentials, what you’re currently functioning as or what you’re looking for. For example, “HR & Management Professional” is better than “HR Professional at XYZ Company.” While it is great to advertise who you are working for, this information can go in the “Experience” section of your profile. Make sure you use specific words, so, recruiters can find your profile at a quick glance when they are searching for candidates with specific keywords.

Network with those working at your desired place of employment.

You can do better than apply for a job and sit back, hoping that they will contact you. Follow those dream companies that you aspire to work for on Linkedin, reach out to people in your network that work for employers that you’d like to work for, ideally through a warm introduction. Follow the rules of networking on social media, remember a positive impression is critical since you never know who might put in a good word for you with HR or the hiring manager.

Blow your own trumpet

The good thing about LinkedIn is that you can include your portfolio but most times we shy away from telling the world all the amazing things that we are good at. The truth is by doing that you are hurting no one but yourself.

If your portfolio isn’t on your LinkedIn take time to invest in getting this done, refuse to play small.

Get recommendations

LinkedIn has a section where other people can post recommendations to your page. This gives any recruiter that stumbles on your page the impression that you are trustworthy, dependable, professional and diligent.

Are you wondering how to about this, here’s a script from Xoneocle

Hello!

I hope you are doing well. I’d like to ask a huge favour — Would you write a quick LinkedIn Recommendation for me? I would love it if you’d mention my hard work ethic, my teamwork skills, and my organizational skills. If you have any questions or if you would like for me to write a recommendation for you, please let me know.

Do you think you could write that out in the next week or so? If so, I’ll really appreciate it.

Thanks in advance for your help.

There more than 6.5 million job listings on LinkedIn, so the odds are in your favour that your dream job is on Linkedin. The key is knowing how to show that you’re a good match online.

Good luck on getting that dream job!
