WAKE UP AND COUNT DOWN TO IDEAXUCUTION TIME

Hold on! Don’t hurriedly flip through the pages of your dictionary or scroll for your browser. ‘Ideaxucution‘ does not exist, so I am just one step away from being announced to contributing to the new edition of the Oxford dictionary but I am afraid I might not fit in well into the shoes of an academician. The word, ‘Ideaxucution‘ is a fusion of the word, ‘idea’ and ‘execution.’

So if you are wondering what you should be doing at this point of your life, it is the execution of those your great ideas. Having ideas and not executing them is like having a chest filled with diamond jewleries and keeping them buried in a hollow. In Walt Disney’s Toy Story, an animation film that showcases a world where  toys pretend to be lifeless when humans are present and come alive in their absence. The film’s plot focuses on the relationship between Woody, an old-fashioned pullstring cowboy doll (voiced by Tom Hanks), and Buzz Lightyear, an astronaut action figure (voiced by Tim Allen), as they evolve from rivals competing for the affections of Andy, their owner. Ideas are just as lifeless as those toys but come alive when you pull the trigger to execute them.

I have seen some very fine planners and strategists but I have come to realise that planning without executing them is nothing but a huge joke. Being in possession of good ideas is not a guarantee that you will carry them out and being a good planner is only an evidence that you have gone half-way down the road.

One of the most effective ways to motivate yourself to start working on your ideas is having them jotted in ink. You might want to make use of sticky notes and place them where you will always see them so as to keep yourself in check towards achieving them.

No matter how good your idea is or simple you might perceive it to be. Researching on it is a priceless thing to do. It will help you understand the dynamics of how the idea works, the possible innovations you can bring into it. I once argued with a friend by telling him that ‘No idea is new.’ They are all things that have been done before but their inventors looked into them with a different insight therefore bringing about incredible and unimaginable innovations. So, research is golden.

Sometimes we create a pseudo-belief in ourselves that the reason why we have not started executing our ideas is because of fund. You can start small today and expand later. It is not guaranteed that you will get that fat pay check you need to invest into your idea on a certain day. What you need is more time to work on your ideas and being consistent. Ideas tend to flourish more when you are totally committed to them.

Work on them like you have never heard the word Plan B!
