It is common to find woman talking about yeast infection in hushed whispers. Yeast infections are caused by microorganisms called Candida albicans. Some of the known causes are;

- Eating a diet high in refined carbohydrates and sugar

This infection also manifests as skin and nail fungal infection, skin issues such as rashes, eczema, mood swings, anxiety, oral thrush, bloating or even constipation. Symptoms of these vaginal infection can be burning, intense vaginal itching or white discharge. It is not regarded as a sexually transmitted disease because the yeast that causes thrush is present at all times and not acquired from another person. To ascertain if one has the infection indeed, it is advisable not to base on the symptoms only.
Seeing a doctor who will recommend a blood or urine- based diagnostic test is the ideal thing to do.
Avoid sitting in hot tubs or taking frequent hot tub baths,wearing tight pants, pantyhose, tights, sitting around in wet clothing, especially bathing suit and douching. These are some ways to reduce your risk of having a vaginal yeast infection-Candidiasis.
