THREE THINGS EVERY FEMALE ENTREPRENEUR SHOULD KNOW
So you are thinking of starting your own business or you already have one?
The truth is, no business idea is new. The only thing that matters is how much work you are willing to put into that idea to make it standout. In Nigeria today, we have so many successful female entrepreneurs like Folorunsho Alakija, Mo Abudu, Linda Ikeji, Funke Bucknor and so on. But still, there is no doubt that there are some major challenges faced by female entrepreneurs. Some of them which you might find relatable include:
- Minimal support from family and friends
- Tough competition against the male counterparts
- Balancing work and home
- Limited funding
Even with all these, women still strive to be the best in every area they find themselves. Here are three things every female entrepreneur should know.
Be on top of your game:
To be a successful entrepreneur, there is no room for mediocrity. You must always strive to stand out; be different, set targets and try to accomplish them. Another important thing is to identify your selling point, make conscious effort to improve on it and be open to change as well as learning. This is the only way to be the best in your field.
Understand that you cannot have it all at the same time:
As much as you want to be a successful entrepreneur, it is necessary to know that it cannot happen in one day. Success requires growth and for your business to be successful, it must grow. Many female entrepreneurs still wonder if it is important to run a successful business and still manage a home. Even though it is not easy, you need to understand that with time, things will eventually pan out. During this period, you’ll find that time management is very key to helping with dealing with this dilemma.
Never compare yourself with others:
Comparison is a thief of joy; just because it took another woman 2 months to grow an empire doesn’t mean it will take you 2 months to do the same. Always determine what you want for yourself and work towards achieving them.
