DEBUNKING THE MYTH AROUND A CAESAREAN SECTION

In a recent analysis by the CDC Foundation, nearly 60 percent of such deaths were preventable.

These are more often caused as a result of severe bleeding (mostly bleeding after childbirth), infections (usually after childbirth),high blood pressure during pregnancy (pre-eclampsia and eclampsia, complications from delivery and unsafe abortion. These  are enough to portray that women go through a lot in the process of child birth, however even in the face of death or difficulty in normal delivery. Some women tend to shy away from consenting to caesarean section while some also lose their lives due to withdrawal of consent of husbands or mother-in-laws.

Caesarean section are invoked by demons

Occasionally, C-sections are medically necessary. Of the approximately one-third of  women who deliver their babies through a C-section, the majority do so because their doctor deemed a vaginal birth a risk to mother or child. Due to cultural factors, most women fret at the thought of being told to undergo a caesarean section  and believe, dark powers are at work. It is sad that sometimes these same women lose their lives to situations that could have been earlier averted.

You are not woman enough

In the christian dominated community. There is a myth that a woman who does not go through normal delivery is not woman enough as she has disproved the possibility of delivering her baby like the Hebrew women. Often, this belief is held onto so as to massage the ego of mother-in-laws or the society. This is also common among traditionalists. The bottom line is  you have just one life and gambling with it, is certainly not a way to prove the  strength of your being a strong woman.

You’ll Be Completely Unconscious During Your Procedure

You won’t sleep through the process. An epidural is used for pain management during a C-section procedure. General anesthesia is only used in emergency situations.

C-Sections Aren’t Painful

You may not feel any pain while on the operating table, but to say that a C-section is painless would be completely false. Most women who have undergone C-sections will feel pain for at least two weeks after the procedure.

The great news is that you would be able to save your life and that of your baby. In all we know who holds our hands and he will lead us through any path.
