MEET SIMI FAJEMIROKUN WHO IS IMPROVING LITERACY LEVELS IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS

In 2016, it was  estimated that Nigeria has a population of over 178.5 million people through the last census although United Nations projections have placed the population as high as 186 million. If we had a million challenges and one person handled each challenge then we would have no challenges at all.

Meet Simi Fajemirokun, a young Nigerian listed on the Top 10 Young Nigerian Entrepreneurs under 30. She is the brain behind R2S (Read 2 Succeed) Africa, an intervention program designed to improve student’s performance, support the class teacher and positively impact the primary public school environment. The programme is geared towards training pupils in goal setting, problem solving, presentation, public speaking and tapping skills. It is also advocating for improved education sector, interact with the schools to understand their unique challenges, and also provide support inform of training materials for teachers.

Empowered with a  BA in International Relations and Politics from the University of Reading, United Kingdom; certifications in International Negotiations and Project Management. She is Board member of Silver Lining for the Needy Initiative, an Abuja-based NGO focusing on orphans/vulnerable children and providing free HIV/VCT testing in rural areas.

She runs an advisory company, ESFAJ & Partners, which was founded due to the abhorrence in the way foreign firms provide Nigerian agencies with mediocre consulting services. She has done a lot towards the rebranding of the Nation’s image overseas and even contributed in no small measure toward positive growth at home through the Abuja Global Shapers initiative.

Simi was raised in the U.S and the U.K but always yearned for the opportunity to work, serve and make a difference in the developing world. Upon returning home, Simi picked up a job in the public sector as a consultant which exposed her to a lot to the dysfunctional system in the country. The experience and exposure she garnered led her to set-up a business advisory firm to work as a consultant that will help government agencies work more effectively and efficiently to positively impact and improve the lives of the nation.
