YOU ARE ROYALTY, BUT DO YOU RECOGNISE THAT?

Do you remember the last time you let someone’s image of you cloud your own image of yourself? Perhaps, it was that partner who was no good for you but who you allowed to overstay his welcome, or that relative, friend, colleague, boss whose words you made gospel and have ruled your own insight of who you are and why you were placed in this world.

What we don’t realize is that half the time, people are battling something in their own lives. They are going through challenges or even insecurities of their own which they tend to propel towards us if we allow room for it to enter. A friend dealing with issues in her own home such as a husband who isn’t faithful will automatically be triggered by your complaining about your husband working late. In her mind and maybe even her words, she’ll have you know that’s also your reality even when it isn’t. This is the same with self image. People who aren’t able to really view themselves in the best light will struggle with you doing so and will try to convince you otherwise in their words and (or) actions.

This is where the word is so important. What is God saying about who you are or where He has called you? If you have no idea then you might have to start doing some bible reading, and spending a lot more intimate time with your maker. A good habit to also take on is confessing the word and really believing in everything that you utter.

Unfortunately, we live in a world that isn’t always the most encouraging. Many times people would rather we all battle the same insecurities that they do; you know what they say about misery loving company. Hence, it’s not surprising that people try to wear you down even without meaning to. We’re simply conditioned that way. But, you need to step into your promise. I particularly like the promise portal offered by The Fountain Of Life church. Each time you click this link, you’ll be redirected to a different promise which is a postive verse in the Bible. Everyday, I’m blessed with a new promise which I like to confess through out my day. Today mine was:

ISAIAH 45:3

45:3 I will give you hidden treasures, riches stashed away in secret places, so you may recognize that I am the Lord, the one who calls you by name, the God of Israel.

You see, to reach your Canaan in terms of how you view yourself, you’ll have to truly imbibe all that is good and pure. You’ll also need to dismiss the negative that won’t serve you or make you see yourself in great light.

I particularly loved the sermon by pastor Toure Roberts where he likens seeing ourselves in the image that others try to propagate of us as seeing ourselves through a broken glass mirror: inaccurate and distorted.

So I’ll ask again, God sees you as royalty. Are you seeing yourself the way He sees you?
