WHAT ARE HEAVEN’S SECRETS ABOUT YOU?
In search of inspiration and just some good old pick-me-up I like to listen to sermons from some of my favourite preachers. One in particular which led me to writing this piece is a sermon by Sarah Roberts Jakes entitled, Secrets. In this message she spoke about secrets losing their power especially in a time where social media popularity is rife and secrets can be sold for a valuable amount of money. She spoke of how secrets have expiration dates and then she got on to my favourite bit, how heaven has secrets about us too.
Sharing her what-has-become infamous story, she narrated how even though she was 14 and pregnant, Heaven had its own plans for her life. In her weeping, shame and embarrassment, heaven knew better, heaven had its own secrets and if someone had told her she’d be this preacher who people actually wanted to listen to, she would have laughed in their face.
But here comes the tricky part, she would never have known heaven’s secrets if she hadn’t sought it out. That’s the difference between human and heavenly secrets. Sometimes secrets about you that you’ve shared with friends and other loved ones can come out even when you didn’t ask for it but it doesn’t operate that way with Heaven.
It got me questioning if I had ever sought out heaven’s secrets for my life. Was I where I ought to be for heaven’s plans for me to be fulfilled? It’s a question that we’ve all got to ask ourselves. Are you in a place where you can ask in stillness and prayer and receive a response. Heaven has secrets for each one of us, we just all have to tap into those secrets. I like to think of it as whispers, angels whispering into my ear the secrets that God has in store for me. When you think of it like that, there’s something about knowing that God has a plan for you that should leave you feeling secure, motivated and at peace. I know that’s how I felt.
If you get nothing right today, go through your day knowing that heaven has a plan for you. Your secrets are in heaven’s gates and if you would only reach out, He may just tell you a thing or two. Rest in that peace today as you go about finishing off the rest of your week.
